Q: SD, What is the one trait a good writer need?

A: Perseverance. Nothing is built overnight and it takes experience, determination, and luck (and one hell of a good story) to get noticed. Those are my personal big three and to choose just one would allow some success, but not lasting. For example. If you have experience alone, you will get yourself in the door and sell your work initially, but without determination you would cut your losses too quickly and never fully gain a lasting following of supporter (both supportive and you would support). If you have determination alone, someone will give you an opportunity. But, without experience, your saving angle might have a pitchfork and horns. And let’s be realistic, every successful author had a bit of luck, but you can’t consider that a trait. Before you say good at telling stories, no one will ever know the truth of that unless you have experience (learn) to get published, the determination to promote yourself (and your manuscript), and the luck that it will be well received by some who tell others and they them even more.

Q:  SD, What is your favorite book you have listed in your VOTE 4 YOUR CHOICE poll?

A: I’m not going to answer that question. Or, at least, not as you would wish to hear it. Each of the six books I have listed is my favorite and here’s the reason why. When I decided to tackle a particular genre, I felt a particular joy in coming up with each character, scene, storyline, and world around them. My focus was never on just making something adequate, but interesting, hypnotic, and engaging. Each book has its own appeal, its own direction, and its own meaning to me. Each was written not to compete with the other, nor compliment the other, but to have a place all of its own.

Q: SD, What kind of story or storyline is most fun for you to write?

A: I would say when I write something embarrassing or turns out to be a happy accident. Happy accidents are when you writing for one goal in mind and something entirely unexpected happen that turns into an unbelievable wow moment that change everything for the better.
